The
Alpha Course is an opportunity for
anyone to explore the Christian
faith in a relaxed, non-threatening
manner over eight thought-provoking
weekly evening sessions. We in Pyrford
are delighted to be participating
in the world-wide Alpha initiative
which has helped millions of people
from all over the globe.
We
have been running Alpha
at the Good Shepherd for
quite a few years –
each course proves to be
very different, but each
has made a big difference
in the life of many of those
attending.
The
evening course starts
with an informal supper
followed by a short talk
about the topic of the
week (such as Who is Jesus?,
Who is the Holy Spirit?),
after which we break into
smaller discussion groups
which provide the opportunities
to ask and explore all
those challenging questions
which Alpha participants
have. There is no charge
for attending the Alpha
Course – why not
give it a go !
Our next Alpha course starts at the Good Shepherd on Wednesday 28th January 2009. Before that, there will be a guest supper at the Good Shepherd on Wednesday 14th January (8pm) where you can come along to hear a bit more about the course, hear from others’ experiences of Alpha and generally get a feel for the relaxed environment that will be a feature of the course.

"What Alpha offers, and what is attracting thousands of people, is permission, rare in secular culture, to discuss the big questions - life and death and their meaning." - The Guardian.
